Bob Keating
Artist Full Name:
Bob Keating
Based Out Of:
Southbury, Connecticut
Bio:
Bob Keating’s sculptural practice is centered around four fundamental elements: gravity, steel, concrete, and quartz stone. His work begins with an awareness of gravity as a defining force, creating sculptures that are rooted in balance, weight, and physical presence.
Steel is a primary language in Keating’s work. Through bending and shaping the material, he uses the inherent strength and flexibility of steel to express emotion and form. Concrete connects his sculptures to both ancient human history and the transformative process of turning soft material into a permanent structure. Quartz, a material with deep cultural and natural associations, brings an element of stillness and connection between human influence and the natural world.
Through these materials, Keating creates sculptures that explore the relationship between structure, nature, and the forces that shape our physical experience.
