Bio:
Gioia Kuss is a photographer, printmaker, multimedia installation artist, and environmental justice advocate. Her work reflects the contradictions and beauty of the world, exploring how human society communicates through built structures and land use while highlighting the presence of the natural world. She seeks to promote human dignity and celebrate the sanctity of the planet.
Gioia’s home studio is in rural Northeastern U.S., but her travels have taken her to 50 countries, enriching her perspective across various cultural and natural environments. Her academic background includes scientific studies in botany, geology, ecology, and sociology focused on the circumpolar north, combined with fine arts in printmaking and performing arts. She studied independently in Paris and Guangzhou and was adjunct faculty in the Green Mountain College Art Department.
Her current multimedia project, Deconstructing Cages, explores mass media communication through video, printmaking, cyanotypes, and photography. She also exhibits documentary projects through socialdocumentary.net.
