Bio:
Thomas K. Melvin (b. 1952, New York City) is a sculptor and performance artist whose creative practice has been shaped by diverse experiences across cultures and disciplines. He spent three years living in Tokyo, Japan (1961–1964), before earning a BA in Sculpture and Performance Art from Bennington College in 1974.
After college, Melvin lived in Oregon, where he worked as a sign and mural painter, continuing to explore the relationship between visual language, material, and public space. He now lives and works in Chicago with his wife, Nancy, surrounded by family and grandchildren.
A three-time participant in the North Bennington Outdoor Sculpture Show, Melvin continues to create work that reflects his longstanding interest in sculpture, craftsmanship, and the expressive potential of materials.
