Bio:
Cyrus Vella creates site-specific sculptures that explore how humans control, alter, and disrupt the environment while investigating socially embedded ecological solutions. His work examines the relationship between natural systems and the built environment, often incorporating materials and forms inspired by nearby bodies of water. Recent projects focus on the history and ecology of the manmade pond on the Bennington College campus, using biologically activated sculptures to question whether missing ecological processes can—or should—be recreated through art. Through his practice, Vella explores what happens when life returns to overlooked and altered landscapes.
